SUPERBOWL LII: PREGAME TIPS TO KEEP YOU ON TRACK

Many Americans eat more during the Super Bowl than they do on Thanksgiving. According to the study, "New Year’s Res-Illusions", the Super Bowl is the second unhealthiest week of the year, in terms of calorie-dense food purchased. And shockingly enough, the absolute unhealthiest week of the year (according to our grocery spending habits) is two weeks before the Super Bowl. At least we plan ahead??

Most Americans use this weekend as an excuse to throw their resolutions to the wind and dive into calorie-dense foods with no restraint. Not my clients! We've got a plan. And if you're reading this, you likely hope to not derail your own progress. Here's a few of our strategies for this Sunday.

BEFORE THE GAME:

  1. Keep calories low and stick to lean protein, veggies, and fruit.

  2. Pound the water. Staying hydrated can help you distinguish between true and false feelings of hunger.

  3. Don’t stress! The Super Bowl is meant to be a fun event and one single social outing won’t derail your progress.

  4. Get excited! Justin Timberlake is performing.

DURING THE GAME:

  1. If you decide to partake in “Super Bowl foods”, choose foods that you enjoy, staying within your calorie goal. Savor every bite with no guilt or regrets!

  2. Don’t feel obligated to try every food or to eat dessert. Do what is best for you.

AFTER THE GAME (Monday):

  1. Get right back on track. Resume your dietary plan first thing Monday morning.

  2. Schedule a workout. There's nothing like some HITT or heavy lifting to make you feel better after a little splurge.

Healthy Regards,

Emily
